Since I went to the store, I'm making a very unhealthy dinner for the family. We are going to have steamed/boiled hot dogs, french fries baked in the oven, canned baked beans, steamed veggies (green beans or peas), and a small salad. (I still have some produce).
The kids will have to go without hot dog buns, since I didn't buy any at the store. We have ketchup/mustard for condiments, and if they want it, I have some onion that I can chop up for their hot dogs.
I gotta say, we are not used to having the heat at 67 degrees. Call me spoiled, but it's chilly in the house. We have blankets on the sofa for this reason, but it's noticeably chilly. I have to find a sweatshirt to put on.
Why not make beanies and weanies as a casserole dish? You can add chopped onion, apple, green pepper, even pineapple as desired. Some add additional seasonings such as mustard, ketchup, relish, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, molasses to Doctor them up a bit.
ReplyDeleteI have to snicker at the low temp of 67. Here it's topped out at 65 degrees, 67 is unheard of, and my oil bills remain disgusting. : (

I am sorry. I don't have oil, but my home is all electric. I guess it's all about taking those steps and getting used to the temp change. You can laugh/snicker. I need to find my sweatshirt I hung up earlier.
DeleteDebbie, don't get me wrong, I understand that it's a matter of what you are used to. DS's GF although originally from this area, spend some time in VA, before coming back to CT. She's always cold, wears tons of layers, sometimes a hat indoors.
ReplyDeleteThat's my kids and I. My husband isn't a cold kind of guy. I wasn't for a long time after my hysterectomy, But the past few months, I think the hormones have shifted, I'm always chilly, wrapped up on the sofa under a blanket, sweatshirt, and socks. I am considering my scarf for my neck. I hate being cold.
DeleteActually, that sounds like a good dinner to me. Salad and steamed veggies are especially healthy! :)
ReplyDeleteI am always cold- it could be 90 degrees out and I am still cold. I keep the temp at 67 in the house so everyone is comfortable but if it were up to me it would be set higher. I walk around wearing sweaters a lot or I wrap a scarf around my neck and I even have a pair of fingerless gloves that I put on when my hands are especially cold. I always tell people when it comes to temperature, "Don't go by me cause I am always freezing." :(
A few months ago, I actually thought I was getting sick, but I never ran a fever. I figured I was getting some kind of virus, but there was never a s/s of illness. I figured it's hormones now. I'm always cold now. I am wearing sweat pants, socks, t shirt, sweatshirt, and wrapped in a blanket. Still shivering. UGGG.
