in attempts to keep my laundry costs down, I wash full loads in cold water, use on sale laundry soap (such as extra), and hand laundry on my drying rack in the hall, and if the weather cooperates, I hang it outside. I do have a dryer, but it takes a huge chunk of electricity to run.
